The Brazilian international Dani Alves has said that Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is such a unique player that he cannot be compared with any other footballer in the world. There have been many footballers who have been compared with Lionel Messi in the last few years. However, Dani Alves believes that Lionel Messi is in a league of his own after scoring 73 goals in all competitions for Barcelona last season. Even though Messi did not win any major trophy with the club, Dani Alves believes that the Argentine ace should be given the FIFA Ballon d’Or award without any second thoughts.
Lionel Messi has joined some of the greatest players in the world by lifting the famous trophy three times in succession. He could become the first player to lift the FIFA Ballon d’Or award for the fourth consecutive time. However, he faces stiff competition from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Andreas Iniesta, who have won major trophies with their respective club teams. Due to the fact that Messi has created a new world record in terms of goalscoring for an entire season, Dani Alves believes that the Argentine ace should be recognised for this extraordinary individual achievement.
“You cannot compare Messi to anybody at the moment. I would like to share a dressing room with both Messi and Neymar,” said Alves. The Brazil international has also said that he does not expect the new Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova to make significant changes to the first-team in his first season as the Barcelona manager. The former assistant manager replaced the outgoing Guardiola after the end of the season. He recently signed a new two-year deal with the club. The Valencia defender Alba has been the first signing to arrive at the club, while Dani Alves has been linked with a move abroad.
